Arizona Restaurant Week (Sept. 21-29, 2013) – “the most edible time of the year,” as the organizers put it – is part of the fun of living in Scottsdale.

During this gastro-centric week, a wide array of the state’s best restaurants welcome in guests with a special prix-fixe three-course dinner. They deliver their most enjoyable appetizers, entrees and desserts at just $30 or $40 per person.

El Choro in Paradise Valley starts you off with a wedge or poached pear salad, then offers a choice of three premium entrees from a selection that includes pan-roasted California halibut. You won’t be able to say no to peanut butter pie for dessert – unless you prefer the triple chocolate cake or fresh fruit pie a la mode.

Cork, in Chandler, specializes in New American Cuisine. Their Restaurant Week menu is yet to be revealed, but if it ties into the restaurant’s summer dinner menu, you could be choosing from wild salmon, venison rack or duck breast as your entrée, and crème brulee, milk chocolate goat cheese cake or banana crème pie for dessert.

Deseo is Spanish for “desire,” and this restaurant at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa takes an eclectic approach to Latin cooking. Look for a dinner menu that features crab empanada, kobe beef tenderloin, and a squash blossom and tetilla cheese quesadilla.

Taggia at Fireside Resort & Spa created an Italian menu for Restaurant Week. The dinner choices include scampi risotto, brasato de manzo (braised short ribs) and smoked arctic char. Save room for vanilla gelato, amaratto mousse or chocolate/caramel torte.
