The Scottsdale Polo Championships: Horses and Horsepower Event is on its way to becoming an yearly Scottsdale tradition of the highest caliber. On October 20, 2012, at Westworld of Scottsdale’s Polo Field, this 2nd annual local hosting of the Game of Kings has a great deal to offer attendees.
Gates open at 10 a.m. and the excitement begins the moment you enter with preview parties and entertainment all the while building anticipation for one of the most competitive sports in existence.
The Scottsdale Polo Championship includes three thrilling matches, with the contenders vying for the spectacular Molina Cup, created by Molina Fine Jewelers of Phoenix. This two foot tall trophy is crafted of silver and incorporates polo mallets and horses in the design. The challengers include:
- USA vs. Colombia (11 a.m.)
- Harvard University vs. Work to Ride (1 p.m.)
- Bel Air Polo Club vs. The Hamptons (3 p.m.)
This last match has the potential to be one of the most exciting sporting events in history as it features world-famous polo champions Nic Roldan and Tommy Biddle Jr. facing off against each other. Roldan became a polo professional at the tender age of 14 and has developed into a legend since, and Biddle Jr. has been playing phenomenal polo for decades. If watching the fierce competition between these two gifted athletes doesn’t get your pulse racing, nothing will!
The action doesn’t stop after these intense matches. Attendees will be treated to two exclusive insider previews as well, including a sneak peek of the 42nd annual Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction and another of the 2013 Arabian Horse Show. The After Party begins at 5 p.m. and features an award-winning local DJ, Mr. P-Body.
