Luxury home buyers have never scrimped on master baths. Today they want to see personalized sumptuous retreats.
Housing Zone Magazine has identified 6 trends this year in luxury bathrooms:
Music, massage tables, saunas, heated floors & towel racks, TV’s mounted in the vanity mirror, lighting controlled on dimmers for the perfect soothing atmosphere.
Natural materials can be durable & practical in bathrooms. They also make strong design statements. Woods that are often used are teak, ipe & bamboo. Stone in slate or granite is well suited for bathrooms.
Views are important in homes where privacy is not an issue walk in showers with no doors and views of the outdoors.
Separately controlled wall mounted & overhead lighting on dimmers as mentioned before. Manufactures are mounting LED’s in the backs of vanity mirrors to eliminate shadows & glare.
Freestanding Bath Tubs
Freestanding tubs are making a comeback. Updated or classic claw foot tubs in interesting materials (stone, crystal or glass) featuring rounded, rectangular & angled shapes with in-line heaters.
Old World Furniture & Fittings
Vanities are created to look like pieces of furniture or old pieces of furniture are converted into vanities. Bathfixtures have returned to warmer golden hues of hand polished brass, bronze, nickel & copper.
