For golf lovers living in Scottsdale or the surrounding area, the countdown has begun to the 78th annual Waste Management Open, held at TPC Scottsdale. This highly anticipated event boasts some of the most famous names in golf, an action-packed schedule of events, delicious food, and outstanding entertainment. Waste Management Open, January 28 – Feb 4, $25 daily general admission, packages available
From your spot just outside the rope boundaries you can either follow your favorite player from hole to hole or simply watch the field pass by. You’ll enjoy seeing some big players this year, including the likes of crowd favorite Rickie Fowler, champions Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson, Kyle Stanley, and Hunter Mahan, plus some great local favorites such as Martin Laird, Kevin Streelman, and Ricky Barnes. You may also spot some celebrities, especially if you are in attendance on Wednesday for the Annexus Pro-Am.
Special Events on the Course
This year’s schedule offers some added bonuses such as the Trick Shot Show, PGA Tour Pro motivational speeches, and a Junior Golf Clinic to begin at 10 a.m. on January 29. Following these activities is a very extraordinary event, the Special Olympics Open. Beginning at 11 a.m., this incredible match features pairings of Special Olympians, community business leaders, and celebrities. On February 2, support the environmental focus of the Open by wearing green for Green-Out day. For those living in Scottsdale, you can appreciate that last year’s Waste Management Open exceeded all goals for recycling and landfill diversion, keeping your city clean and minimizing the carbon footprint of a massive event.
Play with the Pros
Do you love playing golf as much as watching it? This year’s Waste Management Open features three Pro-Am matches where amateur players are paired with professionals for an exciting round of golf. The Leslie’s Pool Supply Pro-am, on January 28th at 10 a.m., the Annexus Pro-Am, January 30th at 8:30 a.m., and the AirSprint Post Open Pro-Am, February 4th at 7 a.m. can be a dream come true for golfers visiting or living in Scottsdale. Where else would you have the opportunity to rub elbows with some of golf’s finest players? All of the proceeds from the AirSprint Post Open Pro-Am go to two local charities, Desert Voices and The First Tee of Phoenix, both focused on helping children.

February 1st includes returning Birds Nest favorite O.A.R., and last but not least, February 2nd welcomes back DJ Roonie G followed by “Best Hair Band” local group Metalhead, sure to get your blood pumping.
