This month has been all about design. We have two projects that we are aggressively moving forward. The one I am writing about today is Casa de Piedra. This home is a regional eclectic Sonoran Desert design on a spectacular lot in Whisper Rock Estates.
The topography of the lot was one of the main drivers on this home. The lot is loaded with large boulders presenting a challenge and an opportunity. The negative edge pool is placed between two of the most prominent boulders capturing a view of Pinnacle Peak at the negative edge end. Great care has been taken to avoid disturbing the existing landscape and topography of this site.
The exterior of this home is warm and rustic with heavy timbers, natural stone, rusted iron and “old adobe” colored plaster. This home embraces outdoor living with an outdoor dining pavilion off the formal dining room and abundant deep patios offering shade at the swimming pool & spa. Tucked into a nook in one of the large boulders is a fire pit with a seating area. There is an outdoor kitchen with pass through windows to the club bar inside the home.
Like most of the neighborhoods in North Scottsdale Whisper Rock requires a Concept Review, Preliminary Submittal and Final Submittal. This week’s focus has been the Preliminary Design Review Presentation to the Design Review Committee. The requirements for this submittal are specific and stringent. Thursday morning Barry Smith of Casas del Oso Luxury Homes, the designer presented the Preliminary Design to the Committee. They not only approved it; they also gave him final approval. This is significant because it saves weeks our clients 6 weeks of schedule time. This is the 10th house Casas del Oso has received final approval on the preliminary submittal making it 10 for 10.
The next step is permitting. We are looking at breaking ground in 8 to 10 weeks. This is one of the reasons people choose Casas del Oso Luxury Homes; we always go through design review with no issues. That’s just the beginning of a successful project.
